A different way to experience Kenya
If a Kenyan safari has been on your bucket list, this is an opportunity to experience it differently.
Safari is at the heart of the retreat. Across five nights in Laikipia, there will be opportunities to explore the conservancy on game drives, head out on guided walking safaris, experience the bush after dark on night drives and spend a night fly camping under the African sky.
But the experience doesn't end when you return from safari.
There will also be daily yoga and sound sessions, coaching with Gabriella, freshly prepared meals inspired by the land, and time to enjoy the lodge and its surroundings.
Rather than filling every moment with activities, the retreat brings together adventure and space to slow down. You can explore, move, eat well, spend time outdoors and enjoy a change from your usual routine.
The idea is simple: to experience Kenya in a way that goes beyond a traditional safari holiday. You'll have the adventure of discovering the wildlife and landscape, opportunities to make time for yourself, and the chance to share it all with women who are equally curious about the world and open to new experiences.
Wellbeing philosophy
Wellbeing, in the widest sense
Wellbeing doesn't have to mean following a strict routine, adding more to your to-do list or trying to become a different version of yourself.
Sometimes it means getting outside, moving your body, eating well, sleeping properly, having a change of perspective and spending time somewhere that encourages you to slow down.
That is the approach behind this retreat.
Time in the natural world, movement, nourishing food and moments of reflection will sit alongside the adventure of safari. There will be opportunities to take part in the planned sessions, but also time to relax, enjoy the surroundings and do very little at all.
You might spend the morning looking for wildlife, return for a fresh lunch, take time by the pool or river, and join a yoga session as the light changes across the landscape.
It is about giving yourself a break from the demands of everyday life and making space for experiences that leave you feeling rested, energised and connected to what matters to you.
There is no pressure to arrive with a particular goal or to get something profound out of every activity. You can take part in the experience in a way that feels right for you.
Why Vizuri?
Vizuri is a Swahili word commonly used to mean "well" or "in a good way". For me, it reflects the idea of living well, making choices that feel right for you, being intentional about how you spend your time, and creating a life that reflects what matters to you.
That philosophy sits behind The Vizuri Method and this retreat.
Living well looks different for everyone. It might mean making a change, taking a step back, trying something new or simply having the time and space to work out what you want.
This retreat brings that philosophy into a real experience: time in nature, the adventure of safari, movement, good food, meaningful conversations and opportunities to reflect.
It isn't about escaping your life indefinitely or returning home as a completely different person. It is about stepping outside your usual environment and giving yourself the chance to experience something new.
Safari and wildlife
Safari is at the heart of this retreat
Laikipia offers a remarkable setting in which to experience Kenya's wildlife and landscapes.
During our stay, the programme is planned to include:
- Game drives to explore the conservancy and look for wildlife.
- Night drives for the opportunity to encounter nocturnal animals and experience the bush after dark.
- Guided walking safaris to discover the landscape at a different pace and learn more about the environment around you.
- A night fly camping for a different kind of wilderness experience, spending a night under the African sky.
Every drive and walk is different. Wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, but time out in the landscape offers the chance to notice the details as well as the big encounters, from animal tracks and birdlife to the changing light across the plains.
El Karama Lodge and relaxation
Rest, nature and time for yourself
Not every moment needs to be planned.
There will be time to enjoy El Karama Lodge, relax by the pool, take in the surroundings or make use of the lodge's sauna beside the river and spa facilities.
You might choose to read, take a quiet moment by the river, enjoy a long lunch or simply sit and watch the world around you.
The balance between activity and downtime is intentional. You'll have the opportunity to explore Kenya while also giving yourself room to rest.
Spa treatments are available at an additional cost.
Yoga and sound
Movement in the landscape
Robyn will lead daily yoga and sound sessions, creating time for movement, relaxation and a pause from the pace of everyday life.
The sessions will complement the safari experience, with the opportunity to practise in the bush at sunset.
You don't need to be an experienced yogi. The intention is to create an inclusive space to move, breathe, rest and enjoy the surroundings, whatever your starting point.
Coaching and reflection
Space to step back
Gabriella will lead coaching sessions during the retreat, offering space to reflect on where you are in life, what matters to you and what you want more of.
The approach is practical and grounded. It is an opportunity to step back from your usual routine, gain perspective and think about how you want to spend your time and energy.
There is no expectation to arrive with a problem to solve or a goal to achieve. The sessions are there if you find reflection useful, and they will sit alongside the wider retreat rather than dominate it.
Meet your hosts
Gabriella Cronchey - The Vizuri Method
Gabriella is the founder of The Vizuri Method, a coaching business that helps women make clearer decisions about their careers, relationships and the lives they want to create.
Her approach is practical and grounded in real life. She works with women who want to stop settling for circumstances that no longer fit and start making decisions that reflect their values, priorities and ambitions.
The idea behind this retreat brings together her personal connection to Kenya and her belief that living well means being intentional about how you spend your time and what you make room for.
Through coaching and conversation, Gabriella will create opportunities for reflection alongside the adventure of experiencing Kenya.
Robyn Blackmore - Yoga and Sound
Robyn will lead the yoga and sound sessions throughout the retreat, bringing movement, relaxation and opportunities to slow down into the experience.
Her sessions will offer a counterbalance to the adventure of safari, with time to reconnect with your body, settle your mind and enjoy the surroundings.
Together, Gabriella and Robyn have created an experience that brings safari, wellbeing and personal reflection together without losing sight of what makes a trip to Kenya so special.

Farm to fork
The Bush Kitchen
Food is an important part of the El Karama experience, and one of the things that makes this retreat distinctive.
El Karama's Bush Kitchen has a strong farm-to-fork ethos, with the lodge reporting that around 90% of its food is home-grown in its organic garden. Meat is sourced locally, including from within a 60km radius, and the kitchen makes use of fresh vegetables, herbs, salads and seasonal produce.
Expect generous, freshly prepared meals, fruit smoothies, homemade juices, fresh salads, herbs, homemade breads and food full of flavour. Meals bring together produce from the land and ingredients sourced from the surrounding area.
Food here is more than simply something to eat between activities. It is part of the experience of being at El Karama, sitting down together after a game drive, sharing a meal, enjoying the flavours of Kenya and having time to talk.
The lodge welcomes guests into its open, barn-style Bush Kitchen, where there may be opportunities to see the team at work and learn about its approach to bush cooking.
For anyone interested in where their food comes from, this is a chance to experience a more direct connection between the land, the ingredients and what ends up on your plate.
Good food, fresh air and time around the table, without overcomplicating it.
The kitchen can cater for a range of dietary requirements, including vegan and gluten-free diets, with advance notice. Please tell us about any requirements when enquiring so we can confirm arrangements.

Make more of your time in Kenya
If you're travelling a long way to Kenya, you may want to extend your stay before or after the retreat.
One option is to continue to the Kenyan coast, where Manda Bay offers a relaxed barefoot escape on a private peninsula, a different way to experience the country after your time in Laikipia.
Any extension would be arranged separately, subject to availability, and would not be included in the retreat price. Further information can be shared when you enquire.
Before you travel
Before travelling to Kenya, you'll need to check your passport validity and any applicable entry requirements, including the Kenyan eTA.
We recommend arranging suitable travel insurance that covers your planned activities, medical care and emergency evacuation, and seeking appropriate travel health advice well ahead of departure, including guidance on vaccinations and malaria prevention.
Please let us know about any dietary requirements when booking so we can discuss these with the lodge in advance.
Further practical information will be shared with guests as the retreat arrangements are finalised.
